During the 1950s certain community health facilities – such as a dental and chiropody clinics – and a doctors’ clinic were held in the Wallyford Miners’ Welfare Institute and later in the old school (which was demolished c1990s). The pharmacy and the branch surgery closed in the early 1980s and since then Wallyford patients have had to travel to Musselburgh.

Since c1986, a lunch club has been held three times weekly in the community centre. In 1996, Drummohr House, a nursing home for the elderly, was opened. It caters for 60 residents, with a variety of needs.
