The political structure and representation in Innerwick was essentially the same as in Oldhamstocks (see Oldhamstocks parish). From 1974-96, Innerwick was served by Conservative councillors, at both regional and district level.
National and European politics
During the period, Innerwick has been part of the Berwickshire and East Lothian Constituency until 1983 and then East Lothian, and part of East Lothian since 1999 in the Scottish Parliament.
From 1979, it was part of the South of Scotland constituency in the European Parliament, which has elections every five years. The constituency was represented by Alasdair Hutton from 1979-89, and by Alex Smith until 1999. Since 1999, Scotland has been a single constituency.
