The Fourth Statistical Account of East Lothian

Morham

Parish Representative:
Mary Stenhouse

Introduction

Morham is the smallest of the rural parishes, covering some 844ha (2086 acres). Situated to the west of Traprain Law, it extends from near Bearford Bridge (rebuilt in 1999-2000) to Ranaldstruther Bridge (rebuilt in 1995), east of Sandersdean. Morham is a parish of scattered and largely hidden farm steadings and cottages. The pretty church is hidden away in the glen and the village itself comprises the old school and schoolhouse, with two modern houses built in the old playground, a row of council-built bungalows, and the village hall. Residents have an attractive outlook over open fields to both north and south, and the village setting is attractive.
